Club Development Works Update June 2018
A lot of working has been happening at KGV and around the club. The new Glenorchy Cricket Players Pavilion fit out is complete, (pictured) and has been in use for the end of the 2017-18 season. This facility based in the KGV Anfield St Grandstand will provide high quality facilities for our players and umpires. The fit out has been designed to meet Cricket Australia Tier 3 guidelines which is based on meeting CA requirements for Futures League or Women's League matches. This facility will be the base for our home teams and umpires, it also provides a great base for training and hosting milo cricket, special events and clinics at the ground. Umpires will be well catered for in the umpires lounge as well as kitchenette and storage facilities. Glenorchy Council has completed the works and Cricket Tasmania has provided funding to allow us to complete some specific cricket fit outs including IT, scoreboards screens etc.
We have also worked hard with the State Government, Council and Cricket Tasmania to secure support and funding to develop a second turf cricket facility in the region. Works have started on the development of Shoobridge Park into a second home ground to support the growth of cricket the region. Shoobridge park works include a new turf wicket block which is installed, ground extension to create 60m boundaries and new fencing. Funding for the works includes grants from Cricket Australia and a significant grant from the State Government.
The State Government with support from our Patron Elise Archer has also committed to funding to re-develop our old cricket training net facility to provide a modern training area for the expansion of cricket in the region and to provide a training facility for our Intercultural Sports League (ICSL) partners to host training for their Hurricanes Champions League players. The upgraded synthetic nets will be complete in July 2018 ready for a busy pre-season.
