Club Development Works Update July 2020
A lot of working has been happening at KGV and around the club. The new Glenorchy Cricket Players Pavilion fit out is complete, (pictured). This facility based in the KGV Anfield St Grandstand provides high quality facilities for our players and umpires. The fit out has been designed to meet Cricket Australia Tier 3 guidelines which is based on meeting CA requirements for Futures League or Women's League matches. This facility will be the base for our home teams and umpires, it also provides a great base for training and hosting Woolworths kids cricket, special events and clinics at the ground. Umpires will be well catered for in the umpires lounge as well as kitchenette and storage facilities. Glenorchy Council has completed the works and Cricket Tasmania has provided funding to allow us to complete some specific cricket fit outs including IT, scoreboards screens etc.
We have also worked hard with the State Government, Council and Cricket Tasmania to secure support and funding to develop a second turf cricket facility in the region. We have upgraded Shoobridge Park into a second turf home ground to support the growth of cricket in the region. Shoobridge park works included a new turf wicket block which is installed, new scorers box, ground extension to create and new fencing. Funding for the works includes grants from Cricket Australia and a significant grant from the State Government.
The State Government with support from our Patron Elise Archer also committed to funding to re-develop our old cricket training net facility to provide a modern training area for the expansion of cricket in the region and to provide a training facility for our Intercultural Sports League (ICSL) partners to host training for their Hurricanes Champions League players. The upgraded synthetic nets have provided a great training area for our female, junior cricketers and the ICSL Cricket league. This funding also allowed for the upgrading of our deck facility at KGV providing a fantastic spectator area with increased comfort for our supporters.
Scorers Facility KGV - Upgrading our scorers box to CA Tier 3 standards with full fitout; new paint and carpet, new scorers bench incorporating upgraded power and IT capability.
KGV Clubrooms Kitchen upgrade has been completed over the past 18 months with a $5000 grant from the Cricket Tasmania Infrastructure fund providing modern commercial kitchen appliances with the club completing new floor, painting, stainless bench fitout, plumbing & electrical providing a modern standard facility to service our members. Thanks to Project Manager Tim Spotswood and a group of volunteers and tradies who chipped in to make it possible.
